Deep Tissue Massage
Unlike a Swedish (relaxation) massage, deep tissue massage uses deep pressure to reduce muscle tension, soreness and tightness. Do not be afraid, I do not use full pressure immediately.
My style of massage involves listening to the muscles and letting them tell me what they need in order to restore them back to health. How do I do that?
I start by using lighter pressure and increase the pressure the further I get into the massage. The muscles will relax as I go or if there is a particularly tight area, the muscle will prevent me from moving through, almost like hitting a brick wall. This is where I know, I need to back off and give the muscle time to relax. Most of the time the muscle is contracting to protect the area and/or the client is experiencing pain. By reducing the pressure, I will allow the muscle and the client time to relax.
Every client is different and no two people are the same when it comes to pain scale. For some people they might require a lot of pressure and others, light is the way to go. I treat every client as an individual and have no expectations of what type of pressure they will need. I always ask what pressure you like, there is no right or wrong answer, it comes down to your personal preference. Please do not hesitate to tell me if you feel uncomfortable with the pressure I am using. It is important that you feel comfortable and relaxed in your session.
The more I get to know your body, the easier it is for me to get the pressure and technique right.
